While extreme types of water damage, like floods, are unmistakable omens of future mold problems, many other forms of water damage go unnoticed or ignored.
Most of the water damage cases we see while performing mold inspections come from improper grading, insufficient drainage, or landscaping problems that cause surface water to flow to the building’s foundation. Then, the building experiences the “rising damp“ phenomenon, in which that water wicks into the building’s foundation, walls, and floors, creating a perfect damp environment for mold.
Mold problems cannot be solved without first dealing with water damage. But we know better than anybody how overwhelming it can be just dealing with mold. Pile water damage and grading issues onto that, and it can begin to feel hopeless.
